The Embodied Word
Move. Awaken. Create. Introducing The Embodied Word – a new yoga & writing community in downtown Rochester, beginning June 1st!
Part yoga class, part writing group, this weekly 90-minute session will explore the movement of creative energies within the body through a yoga class led by Betsy Woldeyohannes of Yene Yoga, followed by a writing group led by Rachel Crawford, Executive Director of Unabridged. The composition section will be largely free-form, with prompts provided. Bring your drafts, bring a mat, and prepare to foster a deeper connection between your body and mind!
This class will run every Sunday, from 11:00am - 12:30pm at Akimbo Books on 714 University Ave. Refreshments will be provided.
Pay in cash or book online at www.yeneyoga.com/book-online.

Fight Back Against Book Bans!
On Sunday, June 22nd, Unabridged Literary Arts will host a panel discussion on the subject of censorship and the dangers of the fast-growing book banning movement that has predominantly targeted books about race and racism, books featuring individuals of color, and books on LGBTQ+ topics. The event will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at Unabridged's community space, 720 University Avenue.
The panel discussion, "Fight Back Against Book Bans," seeks to provide parents and community members with resources and strategies that they can employ to combat censorship when the movement comes to their school districts and towns.
